We are seeking an experienced Senior Data/AI Analyst. In this role you undertake and participate in AI, data and analytics engagements and projects across both financial and performance audit branches, either individually or as part of a team, to ensure the timely, effective and efficient achievement of outcomes; and provide professional advice to the Chief Strategist for Digital Uplift on matters relating to AI, data and analytics.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
- Assist with delivery of initiatives and projects in the Office’s Digital Audit Strategy and Roadmap, including implementation of new tools and technologies.
- Provide data analysts or data partners with appropriate supervision, coaching and opportunities to enhance AI, data and analytics knowledge and skills through on-the-job training.
- Ensure quality and timely AI, data and analytics outputs are achieved by maintaining strong and professional relationships with clients and proactively communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify and resolve issues which have the potential to adversely affect outcomes and timeframes, including monitoring and validating AI and data quality, and where appropriate escalating relevant matters to the Chief Strategist for Digital Uplift.
- Provide sound and well-reasoned documentation to support AI, data and analytics findings, including highlighting AI and data limitations.
- Assist Chief Strategist for Digital Uplift to develop innovative solutions to complex AI or data projects and engagements and provide sound and well-reasoned analysis to support data insights and outputs.
- Contribute to developing a data culture at the Audit Office by preparing training material and delivering training, developing guidance and other materials and participating in awareness raising activities.
- Ensure compliance with the Audit Office Code of Conduct and all other internal policies, business rules and procedures including records management and workplace health and safety policies.

What will you need to succeed?
We are seeking someone with a blend of technical expertise, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and good professional judgement to solve problems. The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with senior management, employees and other key stakeholders.
You will also need:
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing responsible AI solutions within cloud environments.
- Demonstrated experience in undertaking complex data analytics for business outcomes.
- Proven expertise in using and optimising large language models and advancing human-AI interaction capabilities.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation, policy frameworks, and professional standards relevant to government agencies, particularly in the context of AI technologies.
- Proficiency in working with databases and writing programs or scripts in contemporary programming languages (preferably SQL or Python). Experience with data visualisation tools (preferably Power BI) and AI orchestration platforms is highly desirable.
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline that requires analysis of complex information, interpretation, and use of technology is required.
- Australian permanent resident or citizen or New Zealand citizen.
- Successful police check
Desirable Qualification
- Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102) or other equivalent industry certifications.

On offer is a 35-hour work week and a total remuneration package (including superannuation) from $119,108 to $157,063 per annum depending on your experience, skills and capabilities.

The Audit Office is committed to supporting flexible working arrangements to create a diverse, skilled and motivated workforce capable of delivering quality products and efficient services. Our standard way of working requires you to work at least 50% of contracted hours from either our head office, an auditee location, or a related worksite. If required, you can balance your attendance on-site over a month, with a minimum of one day per week in one of these locations.
